How does Botox work?
Botox works by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles. Botox blocks the transmission of acetylcholine from the nerves to the muscle. The acetylcholine sends a message to the muscle telling it to contract or tense up. As the flow of acetylcholine is blocked or significantly reduced, the muscle relaxes and no longer retracts. As a result, the wrinkled areas smooth out and soften.
